In the mid-1920s, the one-room Water Valley Schoolhouse stood as a cornerstone of local life. This portrait captures a group of young students, aged five or six, gathered on the steps for a class photo. Among them is Glenn William Haushalter (1919–1944). The children, in their sturdy knickerbockers and patterned dresses, embody the quiet, communal spirit of rural Hamburg.
