This photograph captures a massive accumulation of felled logs, likely a staging area in the Coeur d'Alene region during the early 1900s. For a young Charles Haushalter (1880–1963), these years spent in the logging camps represented a period of grueling physical endurance and seasonal rhythms dictated by the snow and the saw.
